Tomorrow Lila will be 7 weeks old. Time really does fly, I don't know why that keeps surprising me either ha-ha! Life has been busy busy busy, I thought I would be bored being a stay at home mommy, but it seems like I never have a spare minute. That's a good thing though, I don't like having too much down time!
About 2 weeks ago Lila started some pretty intense screaming sessions. They were rough! She was really trying my patience, and it was so sad to feel the frustration I felt towards her, even sadder to not be able to comfort her. She just cried and cried...So off to the pediatrician we went, after I described all of Lila's behavior the Dr. laughed and said, "Welcome to life with an acid reflux baby! Luckily for you it's treatable." I had to hold back tears, I really thought she would say what everyone else had told me - That It's just colic, or it's "purple crying", or to just let her cry it out. What a relief to be able to do something to help her! So now she is on the up and up, I've got my sweet, happy Lila back, she is just TOO CUTE. I've also discovered (with a few helpful tips from my wonderful sister-in-law) that this little girl really needs her beauty sleep or she is mega cranky! She needs to eat, play for no more than an hour, and then go right back to sleep or else a crying session is in store for me. I've been doing this for just 2 days and I can already see an improvement! I'm getting this mommy thing down!
I'm starting to level out in the emotions department too. I still cry over the silliest things...I think that just comes along with motherhood though. Someone made a good point, they sort of put into perspective that becoming a mommy takes you through the grieving process...you are grieving for your non-mommy self, which sadly, is gone forever. This may not affect some people that way, but it sure does for me. I'm adjusting to this new phase in life and leaving the non-mom behind. I think I'm in the acceptance phase now. I'm a mom, life is totally different...and I'm finding a way to be happy with that. And today I sealed the deal...I got rid of my little car and got a mommy car! It's probably silly to make a big deal over parting with a car, but hey, I sure did. I shed quite a few tears over selling my cobalt. It was a part of my single, independent days, and today someone drove it away. Ah...nostalgia. The last three years have been such a crazy ride, and I had the cobalt to get me to where I am now! I was so proud of myself when I bought it brand new and was able to pay for it on my own. Who gets attached to 3 year old car really? I'm such a sap! Anyway, it still stings a little that Baby (I know, not a super unique name) is gone. We got a pretty sweet dark purple Equinox that I will like just fine, it's practical. It will be fun making new memories with this car...and we won't be so squished. :)
